  99. been able to find so far is Radio Shack's 0.85 AH cells. Are there 1 AH cells
  100. out there or is 0.85 as good as it gets? Oh, and of course, cost is a factor

  116. the current USCF year book. I have recieved no reply. Apparently other 
  117. people have had the same experience.

  139.         Here is an interesting Bulletin from the AP NEWS SERVICE:

  141.         The Federal Communications Commission on Friday, May 6th, 1994
  142. showed off a car equipped with two computers, a color printer, complete
  143. with a satellite receiver in the trunk.  This car when driven through
  144. cities and neighborhoods can detect unlicensd radiosignls and signals
  145. that cause malicious interference.
  146.  
  147.         By June, the FCC will have ten such cars, each installed with
  148. $75,000.00 worth of electronic equipment.  The Commission would not say
  149. which field offices will get the first cars.  The goal is to provide each
  150. Field Office with at least two of these cars.
  151.  
  152.         The FCC finds about two or three unauthorized radio signals a
  153. month, with the worst offenders being "Low power FM radio stations, Taxi
  154. cab dispatchers, Businesses, and especially Boat operators,"  said
  155. Commission spokesman  Steve Svab.
  156.  
  157.         Inside each car is a Control Station between the driver and the
  158. rear seats.  It features a Mobile Phone, a Computer Keyboard, and Two
  159. Small Screens:  one for computer commands and one for the display of maps
  160. and other information.
  161.  
  162.         With this equipment, a FCC agent can pick up a radio signal and
  163. use a Data Base to find out if it is authorized and pinpoint the location
  164. of the transmitter.  Furthermore, data can be trnsmitt from the car to
  165. a central location and from one car to another.  "Big Brother is listening
  166. to us using new sofisticated toys!  Be careful.

  422. I'm in the process of upgrading one of our 440mhz repeaters here in
  423. the area, and I'm looking at the ICOM RP-4020. I'm curious if anyone
  424. has had any experience with this machine.

  426. Specifically, I'm wondering how easy this repeater is to modify.
  427. It does not come with an autopatch, for instance - has anyone
  428. added a patch to one of these repeaters, and if so, how difficult
  429. was it?
  430.  
  431. Another annoying quirk of the repeater is that it IDs every time
  432. someone lets the tail drop. This does not appear to be a user-changable
  433. feature. Anyone know of firmware patches available?

  506. of the people who helped me get started in Ham radio in the late 60's. I haven't
  507. had any contact with him for 25 years, but I still remember him. I think I remember
  508. him having a daughter, but the last name stumps me too. Has anyone sent a QSL?

  539.  I would imagine something of that sort would have to be done using
  540. a buffer to store the voice data and sent all at once, in the same fashion
  541. as a simplex repeater operates. The rise and fall of network traffic would
  542. make for a choppy converstaion if it were done real time.

  573. As any of us who've ever tried to turn our car with our feet, or stop
  574. it by tipping both toes forward, or jambing our heels out and down 
  575. can attest, it's important to remember this. Also, the car doesn't 
  576. go any faster when you reach over and push in on the cigarette lighter.
  577. And people chuckle when you absentmindedly yell 'clear prop!' before
  578. twisting the car key!
